May 2023 Memorial Weekend Events
Thursday, May 25 at noon – Grave decorating at Arlington National Cemetery. Meet at the Visitor Center, 222 Memorial Ave, Arlington, VA. Note that we will have a long walk to the Native American Vietnam Veterans Plaque next to Carl Thorpe’s Grave – Sec 8 Grave 9790-P. Saturday, May 27 at 11am — Grave decorating at Carlisle Indian School in Pennsylvania. See detail in next section. Monday, May 29 at 11am – Grave decorating at Congressional, Cedar Hill, and Washington National. Meet at Congressional Cemetery, 1800 E St, SE, Washington, DC. |

MAIN EVENT @ 11:00am est: Carlisle Barracks, 870 Jim Thorpe Rd Carlisle, PAArrive by 11am! Please do not go into the cemetery until everyone has gathered so we can go in as a group. Please wait in the parking lot next to the Cemetery. AISDC will provide flowers for decorating the graves. |

After the cemetery event is complete, there will be a pot luck picnic at a pavilion on the Carlisle Barracks grounds. Please bring a dish to share and your own reusable plates and silverware to support protecting earth and our environment. |
PRE-VET: You can pre-vet by applying for a pass up to 30 days prior to your visit by downloading a Carlisle Barracks Installation Access Control Application CBks (DES) Form 228-R-E. Complete the form and submit it via fax (717) 245-3750. It is recommended for Contractors and Visitors traveling in a group, to pre-vetted. By submitting the form, you are authorizing a background check, which uses the National Crime Information Center Interstate Identification Index (NCIC III), a Federal Bureau of Investigation database that provides criminal histories from all 50 states and the District of Columbia. If you are approved for a visitor pass, it will be ready for you to pick up at the Visitor Center. This will provide you access onto the installation at any Access Control Point during your visitor. |
